Federal Supply Silver Anniversary Training Sessions @ Holiday Inn Express & Suites
Mar 20 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

This year the technical sessions will be on 3/20/19 and the business sessions on 3/21/19.

Here is a description of the sessions as well as the registration sheet.

Irrigation Training Session Descriptions

Day One – Technical Sessions

Irrigation System Maintenance and Management – A to Z

Session 1 – System Evaluation & Field Design 8 am – 12 pm

Efficient and effective irrigation systems require proper design, installation, and constant maintenance and management. The latter is the most important and often least considered of all the above. A great design and perfect installation are useless if the system is not constantly inspected, evaluated, maintained, modified and updated to compensate for changing site conditions and aging equipment. This comprehensive session will guide attendees through the inspection and evaluation process from a field perspective. We will review design basics, proper installation techniques, inspection processes, and how to use these tools to evaluate existing systems. Attendees will work through various real-world scenarios on adding heads and zones, moving components, addressing coverage problems and more.

Session 2 – System Maintenance & Troubleshooting 1 pm – 5 pm

Building on Session 1, we will move into the more technical aspects of irrigation maintenance and troubleshooting. A comprehensive review of control system troubleshooting including electrical and hydraulic issues will cover EVERY type of irrigation control, from manual to DC Latching, hydraulic to two-wire. Attendees will be given guides and procedures for identifying which control system types they are working with and step by step instruction on how to determine what and where the faults are. Locating and other troubleshooting tools will be overviewed and explained. Repair techniques, specialty products designed specifically for the irrigation technician, and an open discussion on the “Tricks of the Trade” will end our day of irrigation system maintenance and management.

New Product introductions will be integrated into sessions throughout the day!

Day Two – Management Sessions

The Business of Green Industry Contracting – Tools for Success!

Session 1 – The Profit is in the Process! 8 am – 12 pm

Designed to address challenges faced by all levels of management and supervision, this session will review leadership techniques and how processes play a vital role in quality control, business growth, and team building. Attendees will receive sample standard procedures for many of the processes involved in irrigation system design, installation, maintenance, and management. Each will be reviewed for relevance and how it fits into the “bigger picture”. We will also be providing an overview of “Irrigation as a Trade”, which introduces the structure of Apprentice, Journeyman, and Master rankings for technicians, and how to implement it as a management tool and pathway to success for field employees. Many of the concepts we’ve introduced over the past 25 years will be tied together in a comprehensive management session valuable to everyone from field supervisors to owners.

Session 2 – The Business of Green Industry Contracting 1 pm – 5 pm

Building on our very popular introduction of the Entrepreneurial Operating System in 2017, this session shows how using the system described by Wickman in “Traction” can help your business grow and increase in profitability. This session will provide several opportunities for attendees to be exposed to business practices in strategic planning, finances and marketing. We will utilize group discussion and interactive exercises throughout the session to integrate real world experiences. Our full focus in this session is on business management techniques that Green Industry contractors can use to successfully grow their companies. We will end our second day of training with a preview of our projections for our industry in 2019 and the factors we use in making them.

We will be also be introducing our Spring Special Pricing offers!
